American DanceWheels Foundation (ADF) is the home of the first American Style Wheelchair Ballroom and Latin Dance Program in the world.
Our mission is to provide people of all ages and abilities the opportunity to partner dance by pairing one person with an ambulatory disability with an able bodied partner.

American DanceWheels is an artistic organization that trains individuals with disabilities, their able-bodied partners, ballroom dance teachers, adaptive recreational therapists as well as occupational and physical therapists the art of Wheelchair Ballroom and Latin Dancing. Seminars for individuals, professional dance teachers and therapists are held so that this method of wheelchair dancing can be taught to people using wheelchairs in all communities.
We offer social dance classes at our studios in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Connecticut, Ohio, Washington, D.C., Canada and the U.K. Additional studios are planned. We even offer private dance classes for wedding couples! American DanceWheels is also available for performances at your school, organization, or facility. Our performers employ the language of dance to break down the social barriers that exist between people with disabilities and the able-bodied world.
Contact us to schedule a performance or for more details.
We offer ADF Teacher Training Seminars to provide Wheelchair Ballroom and Latin Dance instruction to dance instructors, dancers using wheelchairs, and therapists. View the highlights of our most recent seminar or contact us for information about upcoming seminars.
ADF teaches ‘American Style’ dancing where the male leads regardless if he is standing or seated in a wheelchair. We focus on social dancing and are not driven by competitions although individuals can progress to competitions if they choose. If you can move your wheelchair and take direction you can dance. Both individuals who use either power or manual wheelchairs, full or part-time, are encouraged to participate.
